Updated Summary Documents

GP Connect– updated 05.05.2020

· An ask to review the CCAS list every 30 minutes throughout the day

· A webinar was planned for this evening on: Digital Primary Care - Direct Booking into General Practice from NHS 111 & CCAS via GP connect

Ø Note: as the webinar was circulated with very short notice in today’s NHS England Primary Care Bulletin, we have been advised that NHSD will summarise this for us and we will share the summary once it is circulated

Nice Guidance – NEW 5.5.2020

· The Quality Team have collated the Covid-19 rapid guidelines into the attached Summary Document

Secondary Care – updated 05.05.2020

Guide for primary care to access secondary care - immediately, urgently and routinely.

Please can we remind practices to ensure that they have spoken to the relevant consultant and arranged appropriate assessment. We have had a few incidences raised with us of people being sent straight to A&E when a conversation with the right consultant would have speeded up the assessment and got them seen at the right place first time.

The attached document – secondary care specialist support – provides contact numbers for all specialties and is available for urgent admission advice/avoidance.

Direct phone numbers to consultants in key specialties have been made available (see below). This provides an opportunity for immediate advice, and the opportunity to discuss alternative plans for management and avoid admission or attendance to hospital.

Advice and guidance is available through ERS but you need to select the referral priority as urgent, for both routine and urgent requests. (If routine A&G is opened then it will open all services again). The hospital will offer advice to support management in Primary Care where possible.

There are ongoing discussions with clinicians from the CCG and CHFT in relation to the management of routine referrals and communication is expected in the next few days.

Reminder message from Alison Waterworth, MDT Lead Breast Cancer, Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon (CHFT)

Please still do not refer into breast clinic frail, elderly patients, in nursing homes or with co-morbidities. These patients are at highest risk of death from coronavirus. The Breast Surgeons are happy to give advice on starting empirical endocrine therapy for suspected cancers in this group via the ‘Advice and Guidance’ route.

The new patient diagnostic breast clinic is OPEN and accepting new referrals for fast track and symptomatic patients and they should refer as normal. Referrals for bilateral breast pain, under 25s and gynaecomastia should still be delayed if appropriate.
