West Yorkshire/Harrogate STP: Engagement Event for BMA Members

This event has been organised for BMA members in the West Yorkshire and Harrogate STP area (Leeds, Wakefield, Calderdale, Airedale and Harrogate) to discuss the ongoing elective care review and standardisation of commissioning policies across the STP footprint.
Dr Richard Vautrey will be Chairing the event and the BMA are hoping to encourage a cross section of primary and secondary clinicians from the STP footprint areas.
The STP review team will be speaking at the event and are very keen to discuss their plans with the clinical workforce. The review aims to make savings of £50m by providing the best outcomes and optimal use of resources across the population of West Yorkshire and Harrogate. However, of concern to the BMA, is that the report identifies that there has been a marked absence of the clinical voice from the acute sector in formulating this review.
We would encourage clinicians across West Yorkshire/Harrogate to attend this event and ensure that their views are considered by the review team.
The review team will discuss:
• the scope and vision of the programme
• the progress to date and ambitions for the future
• how the commissioners, providers and other sections of the local health and care economy are working together
• how the review team is engaging with patients, the public and the health and care workforce and their future plans for participation.

The BMA is hosting the event and members are encouraged to book their place quickly as numbers are limited. A free buffet meal and refreshments will be available from 6.30pm onwards.
