GP Contract and Regulations
GP Contract Updates 2025-26
March 2025 saw the publication of new requirements within the GP Contract that come in to force from April 2025. This new contract followed negotiations and agreement with GPC England after three successive imposed contracts. The announcement by NHS England included:
- £969 million uplift in funding.
- Enhancements to ARRS, now including GPs and Practice Nurses
- Funding through an Enhanced Service for Advice and Guidance
- Restoration / uplift of SFE payments (sickness/parental leave cover) in line with 2025-26 real-terms values.
- Changes to requirements for patient online e-consultation access to general practice from October 2025. This ensures all three methods of access are to be available across the full core hours as specified.
