In July 2025, the Secretary of State for Health published a new national document, ‘Fit for the Future: The 10 Year Health Plan for England’.

The BMA Response
In August 2025, the BMA published their response.
Whilst acknowledging a number of positive developments within the plan, the BMA were clear in their position of having significant concerns. In their introduction to the analysis, specific to General Practice, the BMA state:
‘However, there are major questions about the absence of detail from the plan and
several of its key proposals raise significant concerns. The drive to establish a
neighbourhood health service is likely to have major implications for GPs and the
partnership model of general practice, which must be addressed.’
